Married - Katie and Matt - The Farm at Brusharbor - Part 2

Here is part two of Katie and Matt's sweet, rainy wedding at The Farm at Brusharbor, a perfect rustic wedding venue. Included in this session are the portraits using those great clear umbrellas and the super fun reception in the barn. Katie's matron of honor, Mandy, helped out with most of the decor. Loved the vintage fabrics that were used and I plan to try this out on a little project of my own! The fabulous cupcakes were made by Gigi's Cupcakes and food catered by Berry Scrumptious. Flowers were arranged by Herr's Fresh Flowers.

In the image above you'll see that the guest had to choose orange or blue beads to show whose side they were on, Carolina (Katie) or Tennessee (Matt).

Married - Katie and Matt - The Farm at Brusharbor - Part 1

Katie just got the short end of the stick when it came to weather for her photography. At her bridal session it was a mere 42 degrees with gusts of wind and on her wedding day it was a chilly, rain filled  April day. However on both days all I saw was a girl who sees the glass half full. She was up for anything and I love it when clients have trust in me that I can still capture beautiful images despite the crazy weather. I brought along some clear umbrellas for the bridal party and I loved how they turned out in the photos. You'll see those images in part two of this wedding post.

When I first met Katie at our first meeting I just knew that I would have a good time around this girl. She just makes you smile! She's so genuine and her soul mate Matt, could not be more perfect for her. These two opted to do a first look on their wedding day, which you get to see a glimpse of in this post. The rain made all the greenery so vivid and provided a dramatic backdrop to their first look photos.
I've always enjoyed working at The Farm at Brusharbor and it's becoming a new favorite location of mine. Their ceremony took place on a covered patio and included a bluegrass band called Whiskey Rebellion. I just absolutely loved this band and was excited to hear them again at the reception.

Stay tuned for part two which will include the portraits and reception.

Engagement - Mary and Dakota

I first met Mary at Hannah's wedding, however that wedding was a whirlwind of a day so I didn't really get to meet her until she reached out to me for her engagement pictures. Dakota and Mary plan to get married in Tennessee this fall, but wanted their engagements done in Charlotte where they went to school together. We started at the UNCC Botanical Gardens and then headed to a private property that turned out beautifully. My original field option was mowed down the day of the session so I was in a mad hunt for an overgrown field. I came across Creekside Farm Horse Boarding on a side road near my house and the owner had the perfect back pasture.
With some beautiful people and sweet light this session turned out awesome!

Congratulations on your engagement Mary and Dakota and I wish you all the best!
Thanks for letting me a part of this special time in your lives.

Newborn - Charlie Eli Vanhoy

You may remember the sweet Vanhoy's from their family session and David's special tribute portraits I did a while back. Well, they added another adorable boy to their family. Big brother Ryan was sure to help me capture these sweet moments with his personal camera. You'll also notice some personal items we incorporated into the session such as a colorful quilt, some cowboy boots, a police uniform and collared shirt teddy bear. Scroll all the way through for more details.

Loved Charlie's room! David hand stained and nailed each board to one wall in the room. It was so striking!

Paula Barringer who owns Alley Quilts in Shelby, NC is the wife of a surgeon that Kellie works with. She made this beautiful quilt for Charlie.

This collared shirt teddy bear was made by hospice after David's dad passed.

Charlie is featured here wrapped up in his grandfather's Chief Police jacket. You'll also see a wall that  Kellie put together that features David and his firefighter accomplishments and his father's police badges. His father was Chief of police in Cornelius and Shelby before he passed away.
And one more adorable shot is of Charlie sleeping on his grandfather's boots.
